Happy Memorial Day!
What a crappy week.
We have a big belly dance show coming up on Saturday but I'm only in one song this time. So that kind of sucks, considering I have to go through all the time to get ready and put on stage makeup to dance for 3 minutes. Plus, we had to pay $50 to take a seminar. It's required to take the dance seminar if you want to perform. I don't want to do the seminar, though. It's 4 hours long and the last one I went to sucked. But oh well.
It's been 3.5 weeks since I've been paid at Monkey Business (a children's fitness center). It's a family business and her dad writes the checks but her sister is supposed to print up the info to give to her dad. Each time I mention it there's always some issue. But it's starting to get really rediculous. It had been 3 weeks since the last time I got my paycheck, too. I need my money, damnit!
Wednesday my boss at Monkey Business (Stephanie) talked about closing for the holiday weekend. She originally was thinking of closing early on Friday and being closed through Monday, but then talked to the businesses next door who said they were only closing Sunday and Monday, so she decided to stay open Friday. Her son had to get a CAT scan Friday morning, so her sister was supposed to open, but she assured me that I should still come in Friday evening to teach my belly dance class. She also appologized for not paying me and said I would get the check the next day.
Thursday I did a little bit of shopping and running errands with Nick early in the afternoon. I wanted to buy some bindis (the jewels Indian women wear on their forheads. you can get some really fancy ones that are great for belly dance) and there's a really cool shop in downtown South Bend. I found some that will work for the show, but I found an even better website (visionsofindia.com) that has BEAUTIFUL ones for super cheap! I'm gonna buy a million haha. Well anyways, an hour before I had to leave for work, I called my mom at home and asked if she could put my clothes that were in the washing machine into the dryer so they'd be ready for when I got home. I got home with just enough time to change my clothes before I had to leave for work, and right when I walk in my mom is JUST putting my clothes into the dryer. She said, "Hey, I'm sorry. I fell asleep. They should be done in like 30 minutes." I'm like "WHAT??! I need to leave right now!" Her response? "Oh, sorry!"
I was 45 minutes late to work that day. I was sooooo fucking pissed!
After I'd been at work for about an hour Stephanie was like "Omg, I'm so sorry! You were late so I forgot to call my dad and tell him how much to write your check for. I have it all printed up, though. I promise I'll have it for you tomorrow."
Then, I go to leave that night for home, and I can't get my key to turn in the ignition. I called my dad and everything he suggested didn't work. Stephanie has a 4 year old so she needed to get home, so I got to chill out in the empty building by myself until my dad got there. I live pretty far too, so it took a long time. The computer was already logged off and I don't know the password so I couldn't even roam the internet while I waited. And, of course, once my dad got there it only took him a minute to get it working again. Ugh!
That night Nick said a couple of his friends that he rarely gets to see wanted to go up to the Four Winds Casino. He dodesn't like gambling, but wanted to see them so he asked if I would tag along. I was really tired but agreed. I'm not 21 yet (a little over a month!) but both his friends assured me that they've never been carded and as long as I don't try buying alcohol I'll be fine. So of course, once we get there we're stopped by 3 people at the front door asking for our IDs. Fuck. Nick made up some lame excuse that I forgot my ID in the hotel (ha) so some random dude escorted us to the hotel side. Then we basically roamed around for a little bit, walked back to the car (from the outside, so we didn't get harrassed again) and then decided to drive down to the lake and maybe mess around while we let his friends gamble. We weren't about to drive all the way back for nothing, considering it's like an hour drive, probably longer. Some random lady in the hotel suggested the lake since there isn't a pool table or anything other than gambling to entertain yourself with there. It's supposed to be a family resort, but whatever.
So Nick takes a wrong turn but of course thinks he's right until we hit a dead end haha. The road was really curvy, so we weren't going very fast, but right when we came up to a curve on my side I saw a raccoon run out into the road. It all happened so fast. Nick didn't even see it since it was on my side. The moment I saw it, I knew. and I screamed, but there was no time. THUD! then I heard it roll 3 more times. I cried for at least 20 minutes, and Nick felt so bad. I know he didn't do it on purpose, and that these things happen, but that doesn't make it any less sad. I still want to cry again just writing about it! I'm such an animal lover. I even get offended if they "kill" animals in movies haha.
So yeah, that definately ruined the mood. We still drove down by the lake, but just sat there and listened to the waves.
Friday I get ready to teach a dance class, just like Stephanie suggested I do, even though I don't normally get many people to show up on a Friday night. I drive all the way down there and bring all of my dance stuff with me. I noticed the parking lot looked strangely empty, and then walk up to the building with the doors locked and the lights off. There was also a sign on the door that said "closed Friday at 11am until Tuesday 3pm in honor of Memorial Day. Have a fun and save weekend!" ...excuse me, what? I know that sign wasn't there the day before! I was so pissed. Nobody called to tell me the building was going to be closed. I drove all the way down there and wasted a gallon of gas... to go to an empty building. UGH!! Which also meant I didn't get paid, AGAIN. Even though I was told I would have a check on Friday. So I drove to pick up my check from Disney for my 5 hours of work (at least that was a closer drive). That was all the money I had for the entire Memorial Day weekend. Then I had to stop at the bank but missed the turn because I was in such a bad mood and had to turn around and wait through all the traffic again. Just one thing after another after another.
Saturday, Monkey Business was closed of course so I missed out on more money. Thankfully Disney used my call-in so I got to close that night and make a little bit of money. But, on the way there I almost got pulled over and there were a million cops out so I couldn't speed but still wanted to be on time for work so I didn't stop for gas even though the emergency light was on haha. Thankfully I made it to work and was able to stop at a close one on the way home.
Yesterday, on my way to work, I was being a nice person when pulling out of a gas station and let somebody in a van go in front of me. Serves me right, I guess. I got stuck behind them going barely 35 in a 40. They must not have noticed the speed limit sign. People don't seem to pay attention. I take this route to work every day, for both jobs, so I know where speed limits are what. There were in a fucking Ford too, of course haha. I was in a hurry trying to get to work, and couldn't believe they were going under the speed limit, so I'll admit I was riding them pretty close. At one point they tapped on the brakes even though they didn't slow down, so I'm assuming it was to tell me to back off. I didn't of course haha. I had my windows down a little bit and once we got up to a stop sign I heard a girl yell "Ass Motherfucker!!" and I can only assume it was directed towards me. It made me chuckle a little. Then, the van in front of me goes to turn left and this fat hick leans completely out the window and yells "ASS MOTHERFUCKER!!" looks really pissed off and waving her arms all over the place. I knew my windows weren't down very much so I wasn't sure if she'd be able to hear me but yelled "Go the speed limit!" and immediately she yelled "Nobody asked you, you stupid cunt!!!"
hahaha. Oh, I love people. I'm glad I'm not a person who gets easily offended. Her actions made me laugh more than anything. Plus, it gives me a good story. I've never been called a cunt by a stranger before, lol!
Then, this morning, a little before 8:30, I got home from Nick's only to find stuff scattered all over our front lawn. There were a couple of my mom's realtor signs from the back of her car an empty brown paper bag, which led me to looking at her car and noticing the inside light was on and her passenger door was ajar. There was also a bag of tools from my dad's trunk on the driveway. I looked inside the car and everything was scattered all over the place. Center consoles open and dumped, the gloveboxes open and dumped. My mom keeps a lot of stuff in her car, so it was a mess. My dad had a briefcase in his that was open and dumped too. I kept going and saw the side garage door was open, too. It was so weird! Luckily, I had left my van locked so they didn't get to anything in there. My parents usually lock everything but just forgot, I guess. I woke them up when I came in and they freaked out, of course. But the strange thing is, we can't find anything missing. They went through everything, but didn't take anything. My dad had a camera in his car and a lot of expensive tools, and nothing. They took some loose change from my mom and she thinks a little leather bag with a silver ashtray and a pocket knife in it. How random! They didn't even take her cigarettes. We don't notice anything missing from the garage, either. Apparently a couple neighbors reported the same thing. Any car on our street that was unlocked was rummaged through, but all that was missing is some random change. Crappy way to start the holiday!
[edit:] Some one down the street said a cd player was taken along with their rear-view mirror... random!
On top of all that, the website that I use ALL of my photo linking for has died. They lost their server and couldn't get all the old pictures back, but this week they announced they will not come back at all. So I lost hundreds, perhaps even thousands of pictures stored online, and also lost a great community. grr!
sorry, that was REALLY long! It's just been one of those weeks, ya know? I apparently REALLY needed to vent! haha! If you actually read it, wow, thanks! haha I promise my next blog will be much happier!
(I hope!)
