I'm not sure what brands of sewing machines you can get in the UK, but my seamstress mother has always used Singer, and Viking Husqvarna. The Viking ones also have overlock.

tutors and lecturers are all they same, they are full of bluster and hot air till you actually pull them up for something or rub something in their face...it's surprising how much they back down after that.
