well, going to start this entry on a bad note, my platoon was doing convoy security the other day, it was nice we actually got to see some area's that we haven't been too. the convey ended up stopping at a base north of baghdad, to go swimming and to pick up supplies. we weren't at the base for long than five minutes when a fucking rocket flew about 50 ft above our heads. it ended up land about 100 meters from where we were parked. my unit is actually used to getting mortared and rocketed all the time, but the base that we were at wasn't and everybody was freaking out. we just stood there and we were like,
'jesus, haven't you guys ever seen an explosion". well it turns out that there was a new unit at that base, actually it was there first day there. they ended up taking like 12 casualties, 3 dead the rest wounded. i was told the next day that the story actually made it to cnn or some news channel.
it took less than 24 hrs for this report of new people dead to hit some journalists desk, but it takes them a month to put out some of the good,great, better things that we are doing over here, makes me sad, well that and the fact that i was 100 fucking meters from where it happened goddamnit,
but on a lighter note i found out that i might be able to go home soon for leave, kind of excited about that, honestly the first thing i'm going to do is get passed out drunk, haven't done that in awhile, i might even go get another tattoo before i return actually i think i'm going to draw something up right now.
