i like that idea--to reinvent yourself. i grew up in a similar town and was basically the sort of 'weird' one. i wasn't afraid to dress differently or anything and had always loved body mods. i dont know why. something about the aesthetic. something about being different from all these people that i grew up around but never fit in with. i love fashion and esp extreme fashion. things are always changing and we can always recreate ourselves. i think its fun and fulfilling. i would hate to be a carbon copy person like the kind that are bred in the town where i'm from. it makes me wonder what the future will be like and what will be 'normal' then. i'll probably blend in better, but then there's that option to reinvent...
oh, and i like that aspect about the pain/sensation. i've always been interested in these things--what the body feels and why--what it has been socialised to experience and then pushing those limits.
