Hey maniacs!

About two weeks ago I had my Mirena (hormonal IUD) replaced with an old school copper IUD. I CAN NOT overstate what a difference this has made to my life. I feel like a different person. My mood swings have almost completely dissipated, as have my food cravings, fatigue, etc. I feel like a competent, calm partner rather than a needy girlfriend. IT IS THE BEST.

My mister has been away living the dream for a couple of weeks so I've been studying like CRAZY. This PhD feels like such a good fit. I was a bit disillusioned with formal study, but this is so different. Pursuing avenues of enquiry that spark something in me, focussing on what feels important and relying on my drive and organisational skills rather than someone breathing down my neck. My supervisor has been great too. I'm hoping to get a second draft of my lit review in before i take off on holiday, as well as submit my survey instrument for ethics approval.

Apart from that I've been spring cleaning and mischief making. In the process of converting the garden for the long hot summer/my absence/ us moving kind of soon. Today I pulled up the last of the rocket (yummm rocket and haloumi salad) and tried to deal with the blasted blossom end rot that is plaguing our tomato crop. I think I need to mulch them but we stupidly planted a whole bunch of basil around the roots which I'll have to move to an as-yet undetermined suitable location. Tomorrow I'm going harvest, chop and freeze the last of the spring onions, pull up the nasty endive remnants and replant those boxes with a new crop of salad greens. In the long run I need to remove everything that's in the ground plot, most of which is struggling in this sandy soil anyway, and scatter some grass seed so we can leave the property with the same pointless patch of grass that we found it with.

Also went on an epic coast to vines bike ride and a crazy crazy night out.

Vancouver, Mayne Island, Seattle and Hawai'i in 15 days!!

Some photos from lately -

Ok I have lost patience with this ridiculously slow internet connection. I'm off to finish my glass of questionable red wine and watch the finale of Dawson's Creek!
