Yesterday I got to take the day off and drive out to L.A. to hang out with my best friend for the day. We hardly see each other anymore so it was really nice to be with her. While our guys were at the Sigraph convention (boring graphics and nerd stuff) we went to the Getty museum, which is only my favorite place on earth. The best part of the day is when you're all done going through the exhibits and you get a coffee and lie on the perfect grass near the garden and chill. And we chilled, and laughed, and watched people....for 2 hours. It was awesome! I'd so much rather do that than sit in some club and get sweated on and groped at, and verbally puked on by drunken idiots. That was sooo 10 years ago. hahaha... The museum store finally had a postcard of my favorite painting by Valentin De Boulogne: Christ and the adulteress. The first time I ever saw it I stared at it for like five minutes in awe before I finally looked at the title, and then I laughed out loud cuz it was so ironic that this would be so moving for me. This is when soldiers bring an adulteress to Jesus to be damned before they stone her, and Jesus tells them, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." See how Jesus kneels at her feet? Those men look like they feel like giant assholes for thinking they are better than her, especially when Jesus has put himself in such a position as though he is honoring her.

This next one is from "textiles in illuminated manuscripts" I think I want something like this as a tatoo one day. This particular page is illustrating the annunciation (the moment Mary learns she will bear the Christ child)

You'd think I was text book religious, huh? Nah, I just love symbolism, especially when it is as powerful as religion.

I think I need to change that profile pic of me.....
