A tip for everyone: if you have any holiday errnads or shopping to do -- go while there is a really important football game on TV. It is the fucking best! The lines are shorter -- the crowds are smaller - there aren't as many cars on the road --- it's great.
Why are holidays so depressing? Because everyone expects them to be perfect and they never are. So (I say) don't buy into the expectations anymore. If you end up eating a frozen pot pie it really isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
