Well after talking to Cara and my sister yesterday I finally lit a fire under my ass and spent today looking for jobs in Seattle. I applied for 11 jobs so hopefully I'll get some interest this week and be able to get some interviews lined up. I am about damn tired of staring at a computer screen.

Tomorrow is September 11th, another year gone...

it reminds me of the whole duct tape and plastic idea that was going to stop radiation and mustard gas from coming into your house
geckogirl:
no, i didnt see any horse statues. but i only saw a small part of the city. we did see some plastic buffalo on a highway embankment on our way back from the fancy brunch. i decided that must be someone's job. to keep the plastic buffalo pollished and shiny just like real buffalo.

I think Sean Penn is an ass, regardless, I ran across this article today. Of note:

"At one point, there were a load of girls on the roof of the hotel saying 'Can you help us?' and the policemen said 'Show us what you've got' and made signs for them to lift their T-shirts. When the girls refused, they said 'Fine' and motored off down...

It's unfathomable that there are actually people who are taking advantage of the situation...

I mean, all the bureaucratic mismanagement really doesnt surprise me. Call me a cynic, but thats government at its best. Republicans will hold Democrats responsible and vice versa. Thats essentially their job as the morally and intellectually bankrupted individuals they are. No one rises to power unless they have compromised their beliefs.

What really scares me are the individual acts of greed and callousness. Government can not, will not and really should not be looked toward to save mankind. Individuals helping individuals is what sustains any society.

Its not the fact that people are looting that disturbs me. Its the fact that they are wasting that energy on greed, polishing the brass on the Titanic, when they should be helping their friends, family, neighbors and most importantly, their elders. And that has nothing to do with poverty or race, and everything to do with simple humanity.

And the fact that so many seem to be devoid of that humanity is what makes me worry that we may indeed be on the nature trail to hell.

On the other hand, one act of kindness is more powerful than one hundred acts greed.

Lets hope

Anyway, ranting aside, hope you is good, mman! smile

I think Penn used to be an ass, with the punching and such. I think he's become much better as a person and actor with age.

I agree wholeheartedly to the rest of it.

Wow. What a day. I left the house at 8:30 this morning, went on a six mile hike/cookout, then from there went directly to Onie's party where I met Frylock and just got home about 20 minutes ago and unfortunately the coffee I drank to keep me awake is going to keep me up for probably another hour. I think tomorrow will be a...

Thanks for the thoughtful and wise words. I'd just had a few of those situations where someone treats you badly, or is just surprisingly dismissive of you -- someone you think you've worked your ass of to be good to -- and you realize, "Wow, this person really doesn't give a shit about me." And then I start thinking, "Gee, this seems to happen to me a lot. What is it about me?" But I'll get past it. I always do.

So, word is that you're threatening to head our way?
williamj:
i think what kept you awake was going to sleep at the party.

I wen to prom with Autumn Dubose. She was a beautiful redhead that wwent to my school. We went as friends. SHe was always nice and sweet to me. Man, I remember talking for hours to my best friend about dungeons and dragons and comic books like it was yesterday...most likely because it was yesterday, because we are huge fucking dorks, and he lives in the room next door.

I've been through a lot of different groups of friends myself. Shit just changes. There was a group of folks I used to run with back when I was 20/21 that I don't particularly care to ever see again. I grew up, they didn't. Most of the folks I used to run with ended up being total losers. That group blew apart due to drama and drugs. Now what are they doing? One is 27 screwing a 17 year old functionally illiterate 9th grade dropout, one is stillpretty methed up and stealing cars, another is running from credit problems. I know I'm not in the best position in life, but at least I have my shit together for the most part.

Neat little introspective though.
