So I've been stressing lately about my medical condition and my upcoming trip. Should I go? Should I not go? In the end I said fuck it I'm going. I haven't had a vacation in 2 years and I need one. I'm feeling a lot better than I was last week and the drugs are doing their trick, but I fear I am going to have to have surgery scheduled when I get back in town, which freaks me out a little. Ok a lot. I have a follow up visit with my doctor and I will talk to him about it. We'll see.
Went to see Built to Spill last weekend and had a lot of fun.
Two more days and I'll be in Seattle.
And today is the day they vote on judicial filibusters, should be an interesting day to say the least.
update
Guess I should have read the news first. They made a deal in the Senate. Damn, I wonder if the Democratic party will grow a spine sometime soon. They should have forced the vote and made the republicans look like the dumbasses they really are for trying this.
However, the silver lining here is that the moderates in both parties have flexed their muscles. Most notably the moderates in the republican party. I hope they can keep the rest of those guys in check for the next 3 years until we get a (hopefully) decent president (democrat).
In the end though, I think we merely delayed this train wreck. Dems can still filibuster, but only in extreme cases (who makes that judgement?) and the assholes can still vote for the nuclear option if they feel the judge isn't "extreme" enough. Sounds like it's just delayed to me but time will tell.
update 2
I guess this is a good deal, the center holds and neither party gets what it wants. I was itching for a fight though.
Your moment of zen
