Frank Zappa 1993-2004
Rest in peace buddy. I miss ya.
Saturday I put Frank to sleep. He took a turn for the worse last week and well, it was time. I remember when I forst got him and I used to live off Clairmont Avenue. I named him after Frank Zappa because well, Frank was my idol at the time (still is). I was living in a dumpy house with 2 other guys paying some cheapass rent. There was a window pane broken out in the kitchen window and he used to come and go as he pleases, much like me. We had some raccoons living above the carport that he used to scrap with which often resulted in a trip to the vet. Eventually I got tired of the vet trips and he became an inside cat. When I moved he chilled out a bit and started fattening up. He was very vocal, meowing sometimes incessantly. I used to be like "Dude, what's up? What are you trying to tell me?"
We had this thing, every morning when I got out of the shower and opened the door he would rush in and jump on top of the toilet by the sink. While I brushed my teeth and got ready I would pause to pet him. This was our morning ritual for over 2 years, and he was always there like clockwork. In the past month he stopped as he grew progressively sicker. Sometimes he would still come and jump up, and some times I had to pick him up and put him on the toilet because he couldn't make it. Needless to say he was very ill.
He had the prettiest blue eyes, light grey/brown fur, and patches of white on all of his feet. He was the first pet I ever owned from beginning to end. He grew up with me from 22 to 32 as I changed jobs, girlfriends, roommates, cars, and progressed further into my adulthood.
He was the fucking coolest cat in the world, and I loved him. Bye Frank, you will be missed.

I'm sorry you lost your cat. He does sound awesome. Very beautiful also. It's hard losing a friend you've had for so many years. I'm sure he'll be the coolest cat wherever he's going.
