In another IE window, I'm attempting to use H&R Block's e-filing site to do get my taxes done and out of my hair. It swears up and down that "Combat Pay" of some sort should be listed in box 14 of my Wal-Mart W2s. Granted, the holidays are hell on earth at Wal-Mart, but I don't think I get combat pay for it.

Played phone-tag with Cheryl a bit, finally got to talk to her yesterday. She suggested we go to a poetry reading on an upcoming Friday, but mentioned as an aside that she was afraid I'd be too cynical and mocking of the poets. Gah. Sometimes I hate getting these glimpses of myself through the eyes of others. I guess I can be overly cynical at times, and hate that it's so apparent to others.

Tony and I went out on Friday, went dancing. I drank a bit, (somehow) managed to hit it off quite well with a really pretty lady who seemed a bit overwhelmed with the human crush on the dance floor. I made room for her and tried to respectfully keep out of her way, joked with her a little about how she'd tell friends her weekend went. "Well, some nerd trapped me in a corner and danced like Snoopy..." We danced a bit together, but I was shy, didn't really pursue things, and her friend/ride decided to leave around 12:30. Damn. Asked her if she went dancing much, she said no... then they left, and Tony just kind of patted me on the back and said "well, at least you danced with her a little." Quite an accomplishment, that, especially considering that I'd found her stunning on first sight and was absolutely terrified of her.

A few minutes went by, and I got back into dancing. Looked up, and she was standing in front of me, coat and hat on. Shoved a paper into my hand. "Here's my number- give me a call soon, I really liked meeting you..." Asked her if she was able to go out on weekends usually, and she said yeah... And she was off, and I was left in awe the rest of the night.

So now I have this phone number for "Heather" sitting on my coffee table, like a rare artifact, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do next. I'd liked to have called her last night, but I woke up late enough to feel uncomfortable ringing up a total stranger to say "hi." I don't wanna do the cold calculation of "wait X number of hours" either... I simply don't do this kind of thing enough for it to be natural.

Anyone want to be my Cyrano?
