So, I was on Louisville TV Monday night. Abby Miller from WLKY, who followed the case I on which I served originally, came up and sat with a group of 6 jurors; I wasn't surprised at the no-shows.

I was told that the gag order concerning the jurors is over, so I'll give a few specifics: I was on the David Camm trial, a policeman that we convicted of shooting his wife and two children. A very polarizing issue in the New Albany IN/Louisville KY area. We convicted him on the forensic evidence, foremost being the blood spatter on his t-shirt, and ignored the possible motives, adultery, etc. Problem is, it's precisely those possible motives that got the Indiana Court of Appeals to overturn the case. David got $20,000 bail and is at home now. Evidently, the case was a rather groundbreaking one, setting precedents left and right for future criminal cases in the state.

Heard a lot of the gossip about the new prosecutor, how the case is shaping up. It doesn't look good... I'm afraid the new prosecutor's gonna screw the case up.

...

I don't know if someone read my entry about having nerdy junk mail or what, but imagine my surprise when I open my mailbox and find... a copy of "The Sporting News" magazine. Sure enough, it's addressed to me, and the date-code shows it won't expire until January of next year. Flippin' whee. It's a weekly, too, so I'm going to have sports crap in my mailbox 51 more times. I think I'd rather just have my nerdy stuff...
arlo:
that got overturned?! i don't know much about the case, but if it got convicted by good forensic evidence, i don't see the overturning of it being reasonable. i'm hoping he wasn't let off because he's a cop...but i have a feeling that could be it. but hopefully not. ugh. my chosen profession makes me sick sometimes.
