Drinking too much, a typical holiday weekend.

Saw QaliDoom's brother Russell play at the Rathskeller last night, w/ both Kali and Nik. I spent most of the night watching Rathskeller servers, since my view of the stage was obscured by a huge amp. The girls thought he was cute and giggled about him, while the guys just kind of milled around, hoping someone would buy a pretzel. Bought a huge cup o' beer from a German brewery that has been in business since the 11th century AD. [NOTE: I grabbed an old copy of the Guinness Book of Records, thinking that the brewery might've been exaggerating their time in business. Whaddya know, they're listed as the oldest brewery. The Weihenstephan brewery, founded 1040.]

It felt kind of weird being there- the last time I'd been to the Rathskellar was when my ex-roommate got married, in the ballroom where the show was being held. That was also the last time I ever saw my ex-wife; she was working there at the time, and had to serve food at the reception. So... beer + melancholy memories.

The night ended kind of early. After the show, I drove home, called Tony. He was heading up to downtown, so I hitched a ride with him, and we tried to have fun, but it didn't happen. Too many people, too many sports fans, etc. Got home, drank some more, then went to bed. Ho-hum.

Work the day-after-Thanksgiving was hectic, but not as crowded as years past. Our sales have slowly been trending downward, and it seemed reflected in the smaller crowds. (The slower business is being done on purpose- our sales per square foot are freakishly large, and the company's been building stores inside our area to alleviate the pressure.) The most popular item was a double-pack of the Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man joysticks for $20; classic games being so popular made me happy. It was a bad night to choose to wear a Pac-Man shirt and namebadge, though; customers thought I was guarding the joysticks, and when the sale began and I unveiled the pallets I was guarding as housewares stuff, they got kind of pissed.

We had no customers get arrested this year (awww...) and only one person sent to the hospital. Woo-hoo. Can't wait for the holidays to be over, then the gift-shopping crowd'll leave us alone again for 11 months.
