today's entry is two parted (or something)
part one: the zoo...
back in the day i used to think zoo's were evil EEEEEEEVIIIIILLLL i tells ya. (ahhhh, youth.) now i recognize that though i would prefer these magnificent creatures to run amok in the wilderness, feasting upon little kids or whatever they eat, until we get the human population/pollution/spreading like some heinous rash problem under control, zoos may actually be the only place left to ensure that some of these critters have a chance to survive. but i digress...
normally, i wouldn't really give hippos a second thought. i know they are one of the most dangerous beasts out there (yup). i know they are rather large (yup yup) and NOW i know they are among the most entertaining critters housed in the denver zoo. the only thing cuter than a hippo baby is (and this is unconfirmed) TWO hippo babies. and hippos can be rightously entertaining even when they don't look like a slightly oversized, hairless bulldog. you see, the first time i went to the zoo, there were a number of people standing around watching this gigantasaurus of a hippo swim around his/her cage. all of a sudden, this huge swell of water started whooshing from the hind quarters of aforementioned hippo. the crowd collectively cocked their heads to one side wondering if a) there was some sort of outboard motor tucked under there b) this hippo was doing its best mark spitz inpersonation c) or something else was going on down there that we had never before even thought of witnessing. answer--c. hippo farts are hilarious and having a large crowd discover this all at one time is even more entertaining than the fart itself.
which brings us to part two:
speaking of entertaining crowds, apparently _luke is developing quite a following and has some shots on his member page taken by yours truly. one fabulous fan, the lovelyQuinn along with the extraordinary and talented Voltaire herself are interested in seeing additional shots. my request for bribes resulted in no-so-veiled threats of boycotting journals until additional shots were posted. i am seeing if some sort of "arrangement" can be made where perhaps photos can be posted on both sides so that neither party feels slighted. Quinn? Voltaire? Bueller?
