i just got word that my great aunt died yesterday. she was a wonderful woman who simply enjoyed life to the fullest. was told a couple of weeks ago that she needed open heart surgery but had a trip to new orleans planned with her beau. asked to go anyway and was told to take it easy (which, knowing E.B. i am sure she didn't). she suffered a heart attack in a museum and refused to ride in any "damned ambulence". she took some meds, felt a little better but had another attack and they were unable to help her at the hospital. she was my grandma's sister and best friend so i worry about gma a lot. she will be missed but i take comfort in the fact that she went quickly and lived a very good life.

on a similar note, my sweetie's good friend is currently dying from cancer. this is in stark contrast to the way E.B. passed as she is simply wasting away in hospice. why is it that this country is so unwilling to allow people to die with dignity? we treat animals better. my college thesis was on the right to die and i am a huge proponent of allowing people to have some dignity in death and not forcing them to essentially die from dehydration rather than just an overdose. i tell ya... i hope we come to our senses soon.

sorry for the morbid entry.

awwwwww. i'm so sorry. death is rough. when you lose someone unexpectedly you feel robbed of goodbye. when you lose someone with a long goodbye it wears you down gradually until the fate is in front of you and the goodbye is horrid yet a relief for the suffering person finally going home. don't get me started. i'm a freak about spiritual shit...i'm sorry. i'll think of you.

don't forget you always have a piece of them when they're gone
at least i hope so, it might well kill me to lose my dad.

off to florida, catch you on the flip (ie tuesday)

thanks for being happy for me these last few entries
as inane as it sounds, it means a lot.
