PUNK CAN TAKE IT! (And so can the Red Sox)

A good day. I hesitate to say that it was the first in a while, as my boss reminded me that every day I wake up is a good day. I can't argue. Better than most, of course, as the Yankees won AL championship series game two, and then I checked out the UK SUBS at the legendary Lion's Lair!

This Subs tour is billed as the last one of the US. What with Charlie Harper in his 60's, I believe it. Along with the man (I aspire to be that cool at 60), were original members Nicky Garratt and Alvin Gibbs. If this is your thing, then I don't need to mention how great it was.

I noticed tonight how melancholy can come over one simply because of saying goodbye. Were I expecting to see the Subs next year, I wouldn't have been sad to see them go, and probably wouldn't have attempted to absorb as much of the night as I did. Stupid, I know. No lust for life.

Think about it, though.

That last fuck with her would have lasted hours longer, if only you'd known it'd be your last together. The last handshake would have been firmer had you known that you'd never see the other end again. Could have, would have, should have. No way to live.

Thanks for the good night Subs and Yanks.

Next week: PJ Harvey, Conflict, Jim Carroll.

Oh yeah, Currently reading Bob Dylan's Chronicles Vol. 1. Dig it.
