So my little girl and I had a calm and boy-free weekend. I have to admit, though I did miss them, the quiet and peacefulness was a nice change. wink I was silly enough to think that having children of the opposite sex would take away some of the constant fighting and bickering. How wrong I was. Now my daughter has me wrapped around her little finger, it's true, but I would've expected my son, being the elder, to be better at guiding and supporting her. Again, I was so wrong. I owe my misconceptions to being an only child and operating off of idealized and lovely ideas when thinking of my children's interactions with each other. Prior to my children I was pretty ignorant of sibling relations. On the whole my son loves to torment his little sister (loves her too I think but tormenting is generally more fun). I'm told by my hubby, who himself has 3 younger sisters, that this is just normal and how it goes. We are split along gender lines in my house; hubby and son united on one side while my daughter and I hold down the other. I sometimes wonder where my baby boy, who was so attached to me, went. Again, I guess this is the natural progression of things for him to gravitate to his daddy and my girl to me. I try to content myself with cherishing the moments of calm inquisitiveness that my son and I share when he isn't wound up beyond all hope. Well, enough wordy reflections. smile Some images of the busy weekend that my daughter and I had....

My daughter and the birthday girl enjoying the pool.

Yummy star cupcake.

Managed to zoom in on a butterfly at picnic at the family farm.

Hayride (not sure what Ell is doing..haha).

Hooray for fresh summertime fruit (in this case a nectarine)!
