My (former) landlord is a fucking asshole. On Thursday, I came home to find out we had no power. That means, we had no heat, no light, no way to cook, and no running water. After a series of phone calls, we found out that our landlord sold our house without giving us any prior notice and had the power cut off. In Canada, having the power cut off before March 31st like that is highly illegal because it runs the risk of the people inside of the house freezing to death. And our power was off for more than 24 hours.
Its not just the fact that he cut off our power (which we only got back on after contacting a lawyer), but he sold the house to a COMPANY that is in ALBERTA! WHAT! He won't tell us their names or anything, or won't give us any compensation for all the food that went bad on account of his criminal negligence. He just tries to pass off responsibility saying that the house doesn't belong to him anymore so it is not his problem.
Seriously? What a piece of shit, eh? This could end up being a long and stressful battle, wish me luck.
