July 4th is apparently starting early...for me it starts tonight with fireworks on the golf course.

My Aunt and Uncle have a place on Pine Lake in Michigan and their country club puts on a big show every year.

This show, usually coincides with my Aunt and Uncle's July 4th party (I've only been able to attend one in maybe twelve years or so).

However, my family moved our usual reunion on Nantucket to the week of the 4th, so it's off.

No free catered food for me unfortunately, but at least I do get to see fireworks and can maybe nick some Chipotle as part of the deal.

OK: Art Institute is right there at the Washington Red Line stop MCA is also right around there, and if you like Modern, it's pretty good. Bars: there's Fado on Clark and Grand, which should be a straight walk west from your hotel, about four blocks? There's also the awesome dive bar Billy Goat, on Lower Michigan, also right near there. For good (but pricey) dinner downtown, Frontera (on Clark) is excellent. One of the top places. Avec on West Randolph is also good, and a little less expensive. Tons of hangouts around Grand/Clark area -- four good Irish bars (Pepper Cannister, Fado, coupla others) and lots of stuff to do. You can't really walk around that area and not hit a good place to eat, honestly. Indian Garden is there, and is pretty fab; also there's two good Brazilian steakhouses, a decent Tapas place, etc.

Unfortunately, I have an engagement on Thu night or I would come down and show you about (I'm on 31st, not too far away from the Loop action.)

A lot of what I was told is in there and a lot more. It's absolutely shocking how stupid and arrogant they were, from top to bottom.

There are also quite a few business connections that raise eyebrows and make one believe the Beckham deal wasn't about Beckham, but AEG's stadium building business and their music connections with 19 Management.
