Tomorrow: Inauguration Day. (Or maybe it should be Coronation Day, since the president's power is so unchecked he should actually be an Absolutist Monarch!)

So, the White House has abandoned the search for those elusive WMD's. How charming. Well, I suppose it's SAFE to do so now that the ELECTION'S OVER! Their strategies are so cunning and so vicious, and most are too ignorant to see through it.
I'm sure this is just wishful thinking at best, but it is my sincere hope that SOMETHING will happen over these...

Honestly, if things in Dayton are any sign, things at home in the U.S. are going directly down the toilet. I know more people out of work or working without benefits, and basically money too.
I am not confident America will get any better either, because the people in power have their heads up their asses.
Its too much to bear. I leave the television off now. Let them destroy my country, but I'm not going to let them tell me how great things are.
Yeah, l agree with you StreetSpirit. People are ignorant, apathetic and careless, and Bush is a fucking con artist who is still pitching his scam.
Yep.
Need to try some KMFDM, I know little of them. Is there an album you would recommend?
Tim.

Ever go back to work after a vacation or long weekend, and the day you had almost made the time off not worth it?!
I've only been on this new job for about 3 weeks (not counting all the time off for the Holidays), and I'm still dealing with the learning curve! On a positive note, I suppose you could say I'm being challenged and...

HaHa Yeah i know exactly what you mean. My school semester has started out pretty bad.
Ahhh, my first post of the New Year!
Also my last day off work. Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are all paid holidays at my job. Since my department deals with Canada, we get Boxing Day off as well. However, since most of these have fallen on the weekend, I've had the surrounding weekdays off. I've only had to work 2...

I didn't have the best of days at work. It's all to do with a tactless colleague who rubbed me the wrong way. Not so much what she said, but how she said it.

Well, I'm SNOWED IN today! Delaware Co. is on a Level 3 Snow Emergency, and that's where my place of business is.
High St. was closed north of Whetstone, so Trees2112 couldn't get to work, either. So my Holiday break has begun a day early! I don't think I have a real problem with that!
On a suckier note, the ABS light came on and...

I kinda got preoccupied with other things, my membership ran out, and I'm just now getting around to renewing it. I left my high-stress, low-pay thankless job in hotel guest relations and started a new one last Monday. Its good to hear that someone is still fighting the good fight. As I've told my friend Janie, the pill is the most important invention in 6000 years, as it makes woman an independent being, who can spend much less of her life barefoort and pregnant.
Not that some women didn't make a good go of it before, but its a WHOLE lot easier.
How that numbskull Bush got re-elected, when his English is worse than mine, I will never really know. He better pray he stays in favor with the Christian Right or they will crucify him. There is no other power behind him I'm afraid.
Personally, I think if Christ were here today he would call Bush out for the Pharisee he is.
I think this whole SG site and other major changes in the world are the direct result of the near-emancipation of the last true slaves, women. And Bush and his cronies are fighting back mind you. Women's issues were THE big issues in this campaign.
Even Issue 1 in Ohio had a lot more to do with who gets property in a live-in situation than it did with the sanctity of marriage. My fucking state passed that bastard too. Damn it!
Thanks for commenting on my introduction at SG Columbus, I'm going to send a friend request. Feel free to say no, no pressure.
Later,
Tim.

I am extremely pleased with the way my interviews went.
Both jobs would pay about 30% more than I currently make. One way or another, something good is going to happen. I really believe that. I've paid my dues and done my homework. I'm not a greenhorn anymore. I've got a little experience under my belt. (YOU THERE! Mind out of the gutter!) I also...

well, yeah, no shit. I see that Iraq has declared a state of emergency because we've done SUCH A GREAT JOB THERE! Yet people were dumb enough to put Shrub back in office, because "he's a good man with moral values".
Gee, I guess it's moral to take our country to war on false pretences and kill thousands of people unnecessarily, but it's NOT moral to grant a civil union to a gay couple who really love each other! I was also pretty pissed off about State Issue 1. It was really shady, because it was presented and packaged as an anti-gay marriage thing, but was REALLY an anti-anyone-who-isn't-married thing!
Time to go to work. Not that I really need to be there on a Sunday. I might take ten calls all day, tops. But I have to come in because my manager is too much of an idiot to throw those few calls to the regular res. people and give my department a Mon-Fri schedule. OK fine, if she doesn't mind paying me to catch up on my journaling and reading!

I'm used to it. I've buried one grandma, eleven friends, and one fiancee. Thanks though, love.
How'd the interview go?
How'd the interview go?

Other than that I've got a ton of new punk CD's from people's recommendations at my livejournal.
Mclusky, Social Distortion, and Avail are all great. So are the Ramones, I'm sure you've heard of them. Fugazi and Minor Threat are both very good. Clutch is very good, a little more blues-rock than just straight punk, just like Social Distortion has a definite indie country sound.
I personally think Mike Doughty rules, lyrically, and his music has kind of a bounce to it that I really like. However, he's not the least bit goth or dark. Soul Coughing might be more appealing in that respect. That is the band Doughty was the lead singer for in the '90's. Look especially for Ruby Vroom. Its heroin music basically, avant-garde hip hop rock. Could be a hit. However, there are very few people out of my friends that have been at all turned on by them.
If you like art rock, King Crimson has put out several albums in the past few years which kick ass. Think math rock meets classical music. Its weird crap, but I'd love to have someone else listening to them. Look for "The Power to Believe."
You might like Opeth as well. There is a Steve Wilson (of Porcupine Tree) produced one which is mostly acoustic, and then the rest of their catalog is apparently death metal. I'm not into death metal generally, but I remember that KMFDM is really hard, so take it for what it's worth. My friend Dave in Colorado likes their melodic stuff. The acoustic one is titled Damnation.
Portishead would probably do it for you, I'm sure you've heard of them. If not, they sound like a cross between Massive Attack and a Quentin Tarantino film. In fact their first and best album was a soundtrack to a film noir movie.
I love Radiohead too. I managed to pirate Amnesiac through the library, gave the CD back, kept a copy on my hard drive. I have listened to that Amnesiac CD 30 times in the past month. Their sound was so cutting edge. I think Hail to the Thief was forgettable. I couldn't tell you a line from a song on the CD, where I have other songs on Radiohead CD's memorized.
Let me know if you like electronica, and I will give you a bunch of other recommendations for that category. Your profile makes you look like mostly a rock and roll lady though so I'll leave all that stuff out for now.
Bowling for Columbine rules by the way. I am currently ignoring the Conflagration while I type this comment.
Looking forward to meeting the C-bus people, take care.
Tim.
