Larry Flint on NPR the other day, "the price we pay for living in a free society is tolerence"
it works both ways though; communities like this one have to allow conservatives the time of day. It's not a compromise of your position, it's more like adaptation. Let's face it, people like John Ashcroft aren't going away.

Well, that's why I notice here. Ultra right people with influence tend to eradicate piece by piece what's not related to their beliefs/way of life. For example, my town, for the last 15 years, had turned into a sleeping town where nothing young, noisy, unsual is well accepted. When you walk at 9pm in downtown everything is closed and it's sometimes shady. When my parents tell me how it was in their youth in the same streets, I can't believe : bars, clubs everywhere, people everywhere.

That's a general tendency in France now.

Today I saw a street blocked off by trash cans and a table sitting out in the middle of the road with people playing poker around it. .... I really don't know what to think about that ....
