Sorry for the sadness this morning! Although I'm sure you guys don't mind all that much.
I finally got around to doing a Dreadlock tutorial! Here it is!
WHAT YOU NEED!:
-Crochet hook of 1-1.5 mm (You can get them at Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, the Dollar Store, etc. They're under $2!)
-Jumbo Kanekalon Braided hair (I get mine at CYBERLOX SHOP ! They arrive in about a week and a half, and are very cheap)
-Something to hold the hair, such as a coat hanger.
- Thread (Optional)
-Scissors (To cut desired length and trim end pieces. DO NOT cut straight across, but rather fray it out if you're cutting the ends)
- Fine tooth Comb
HOW TO:
1) Loop the hair onto the end of the coat hanger and tie it into a knot. You can tie the hair itself, or use thread or elastic if you want. I like to just tie the hair. Leave about 1/2-1cm looped end.
2) Place coathanger between your knees and begin backcombing your hair slowly
3) It will begin to compact, this is good! Feel the hair and make sure there are no soft spaces; then twist it slightly and palm roll it. Backcomb again if necessary.
4) Place the hair between your thumb and index finger, and hold the crochet hook with the same fingers with your other hand. Start to pull the crochet hook through the hair.
5) Crochet the hair until it is knotted and has an almost braided appearance. Palm roll. Twist. Crochet. Backcomb. Repeat.
6) When you get the desired length, palm roll the hair to a point at the end.
There you have it! It's super easy, and lots of fun! It takes about 15-20 minutes to make each dread.
