I'm not quite sure if the musician 'Lights" ever became known in the U.S but this beautiful talented lady originated from Toronto so as you can imagine, before she went on her musical break ( to give birth to a beautiful baby girl ) she was quite popular in Canada. I was just coming into high school in 2009 when I discovered her music, and I fell in love. Now to think of it, the crush I developed on her was the first that made me realize i'm into women. I've met her twice. The first time , I fainted and the second time I froze and ended up telling her about the time I fainted. So long story short, I made a complete fool of myself and she probably thinks i'm a stalker. If you aren't familiar with her, you should really check her music out !! She writes all of her own music, plays her own music and her music videos are quite entertaining, not to mention she can rock out on a keytar ! I think that's fucking rad. Her music is not everyone's taste I know that but if you can appreciate some very creative synth/electro / intergalactic space pop music you will definitely enjoy her.
