It is a gray, cold, and rainy day here in the Midwest. So I have been sitting in my office on my couch catching up on the news of the week. Nothing better than being curled up on the couch with a warm cup of coffee and reading.

I have now been a member of SG for two weeks or so now. It has been...

I was going to write but I could not bring my self to do it.

I could be mean and nasty but I can not see my way through it.

You know what this is about and what I could not bring myself to do.

But I am sure that this will miss most every one but you.

I struggle and fight to try and...

Well after closing out the bar on Friday night, I did not think I was going to be up for going out again Saturday. But I managed to get a second wind and headed out for a fundraiser for the Mid Iowa Rollers, our local womens flat track roller derby team. I know one of the "chicks" on the team. I must say the roller...

Some friends of mine and I went to the Beacon of Life Quiz Bowl, last night. We had a great time talking about geeky things and generally being silly. This was our second time we have competed. We did it last fall and came in 1 point out of a 3 way tie for second. We did not do nearly so well last night but...

Favorite brew? And favorite thing to cook?
stoothman:
Mizoo,

My favorite beer style is an IPA. I particularly like Snakedog IPA from Flying Dog Brewery and 60 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head Brewery.

As for my favorite thing to cook that is tough. I make a really good chili and a excellent beef stew. But if I had to pick one favorite it might be my easy Chicken Cacciatore. I like the regular kind as well, but when I am pressed for time, I use canned tomatoes with the onion and pepper already in it. A few herbs and spices and a splash or two of cooking sherry and dinner is finished in about 30 minutes.

In general, I like to make things that have a lot of flavor in them. So I really like to cook Italian, Mexican, Indian, and such.

In case you have not heard Ticketmaster announced plans to merger with Live Nation. This would create the largest vertically integrated company in the events business. What it means for musicians and other artists is that unless they are in the fold they will be locked out of many venues. What it means for venues is that unless you use them you will not get...
