Went to a lecture by Robert Moog at the university an hour ago. It was partly sheer boredom when he tried to talk about where ideas come from, by talking about Ptolemy, Copernicus, Kepler and Galileo, and then trying to "synthesize" that into the concept of research as informed intuition.
The good part, of course, was when he talked about his life, his work, and how he came up with the Moog synthesizer, and played it for the audience. Moog playing the Moog. It was delightful to see
One of the confusing things was that the famous Moog using composer and musician Wendy Carlos had albums credited as WALTER Carlos. Why was that? A pseudonym or something? Didn't really make sense to me.
So I Google Wendy Carlos, come up with her homepage, turns out Walter Carlos was the name (s)he was born with.
