Flamboyant lawyer hater Wild Bill dies
'LAWYERS SUCK': Anger led Wasilla man to picket with inflammatory signs.

WASILLA -- The signs are still up at Wild Bill's compound near the Parks Highway just east of the city: "Lawyers Suck," one reads. Nearby is another: "Cops and Wild Bills are the last line of defense against Satan-lawyer filth."
But Wild Bill is gone.
William "Wild Bill" Nelson died at a Wasilla nursing home on Christmas Day. He was 67.
A Valley institution, Wild Bill was locally known for his boisterous character, tall tales, ingenuity and penchant for pinching ladies' bottoms.
He forged a wider reputation over nearly three decades as a venomous anti-lawyer crusader, circling Palmer and Anchorage courthouses in an array of vehicles decked out with placards calling for death to lawyers.
Nelson's relatives remembered him as a big-hearted character with a knack for telling crazy stories that went a little sideways later in life. "I can remember him going after us when we were kids, oh, with grease guns, for example. We'd run like crazy," said nephew John Reeder, an Anchorage geologist. "Then he got into flying. I remember when he used to buzz the house and throw beer cans out -- the FAA probably wouldn't want to hear this -- and try to hit the chimney."

I remember this guy, he was fucking crazy. The lawyers didn't think he was funny, they hated him as much as he hated them. He would drive around their offices downtown with a truck with anti-lawyer signs on it and scream at anyone wearing a suit. He said "Good day, young man." to me once though,

People like Wild Bill seem to only exist in Alaska. That's one of the reasons I love it there.
