Soldier Guilty of Trying to Aid al-Qaida

FORT LEWIS, Wash. - A National Guardsman accused of trying to give al-Qaida information about U.S. troops, including methods for killing soldiers, was found guilty Thursday on all five counts of trying to help the terrorist network.
The verdict in Spc. Ryan G. Anderson's court-martial, which began Monday, was announced late Thursday afternoon.
Anderson, a tank crewman whose 81st Armor Brigade unit is now in Iraq, was accused of trying to give terrorists information about U.S. troops' strength and tactics. The terrorists he thought he was meeting with were actually undercover federal agents, prosecutors said.
A military spokesman has said the charges amount to attempted treason.

I used to talk with this guy on an internet firearms discussion board, for about a year. He constantly asserted that you could be both a devout Muslim and a loyal patriotic American. In January or so, he told us his National Guard unit was being deployed, and he'd post from there.
I felt like teasing him and say something like "Don't go and do something stupid and frag your CO." But I thought that might be a little bigoted and very hurtful, if he was sincere about being a loyal patriotic American.
Turns out he was sincere about being a devout Muslim, at least. He deserves to hang, but since no one was killed because of his putrid act of treason, I doubt he will.

Islam isn't relegated to some deep backwater any more than Judaism is relegated to the same area. They both exist in the most prominent areas on earth. Because a few Sunni Muslims have chosen to use their religion to justify murder doesn't make the religion wrong, it makes the murderers wrong.
I don't hear you decrying Christians that want God in the White House like you do Muslims who look for the same in their countries.
