Call center jobs blow. I went on an interview at an MCI call center back in college and when I finished the interview I was dead set against the job.
I go through the Christmas blues every year like you are describing, I work at Trinity Rep, which you might remember from you time in Providence, and we do about 800 performances of Christmas Carol. By about, oh... I would say December 13th every year I am ready to hang it up. A couple years ago I made a list of the ten most important people to me and I wrote them a letter to explain why they were important to me. I didn't send about 8 of them, but it put me into a better frame of mind. I got a couple of small, meaningful things and it took the bite of the Holiday Season (the way they mean in on the TV) and put something of a Christmas Spirit into things. You can try it if you want to. I am a heathen too, so I don't have a particular affinity for the holiday.
Good luck on Christmas Day, with all those new Westinghouse 64" LCD Plasma High Def torture devices under the tree.

sometimes it just helps to design a task list of interesting things to occupy your time until he gets back.
two months is not a long time, but... if it's enough to drive you crazy, you could learn a skill or talent, perhaps worthy of diplay and 'ta-da', when he returns.
i need an oil change too and am a little worried that something else may need work.... blah.
