I just found out today that we have a student that is so poor he family lives in a shack with no wood or propane heat. This is in Colorado at 7500ft in an area that sees -20F temps in the winter.
They have electricity but no hot water. The boy cooks Raman noodle using the hot water from a coffee maker. He has to go to a neighbor's house once a week for a shower (that was ordered by DPS.
