Why is it that I'm still in the department working at 4:21am? Well the answer to that question is... because maybe if I pull an all-nighter I'll fall asleep in the pm and wake up in the am unlike at present - waking up at approximately 4pm and then not getting to sleep until 6am. Setting asside the fact that this means that I am only awake for 14 hours (or less) of the day my body is quite comfortable with this schedule it seems, however it seems that my lecture timetable is not quite so comfortable. So. Rather than suffering this terrible insomnia I thought I'd make the most of my time, having already digested approximately 400 pages of my Engineering Maths textbook this evening/morning I'm hoping to *whispers* trick my body clock into not knowing what time it is Mwah hah hah. I will apologise now for these incessant (I don't know how to spell incessant 
) ramblings as although I can't sleep I am still very tired and feel like a zombie/

but promise to start a new paragraph soon.

Today has been pretty uneventful. As I'm in my third year now I've been trying to work out what my options are....
1) I could continue on the MEng i'm currently studying which will take another year.
2) I could drop down to the BSc and take and MSc but would have to pay for the MSc so unless I get offered sponsership this is really out of the question.
3) I could drop down to the BSc and go straight on to do a PhD though I know competition would be tough and it is unlikely that I would be able to do the project that I want.
4) I could do the MEng or the BSc then get a real job *haha*
Now, if I do the MEng it would give me an extra year to do research into a PhD area and look for funding. The downside to this is that I would be *counts on fingers* 10.... *and toes* 23 (should possibly add that to my stats
) before I finish my Masters and 26 before I finish my PhD. Thats a long time!
Just to let you know the area that I would like to base my PhD on is Aircraft Smart Wing technology. Basically this means using the entire wing as a control surface (like a bird does) rather than ailerons as commercial planes do. I'd like to research novel automatic control systems for such wing systems. One of the first things I need to do though, is find out what exactly has been done on this topic by other research groups, as I know that there are a few aircraft already that use similar systems i.e. NASA and I wouldn't like to step on anybodys toes *even louder snort* - I wish. So, If there's anyone from the aerospace industry who happens to be reading this waffle then please feel free to drop me an email
On a lighter note I had a conversation with one of my lecturers today and it seems that haveing lots of big tattoos won't be a problem for me if I stay in academia - unlike industry where they may not be appreciated.
Anyway, I think I should probably put an end to this essay
