Where shall I begin? Hmmm, not updating in a while gets tedious when you finally do. Well, I suppose I shall use the title of a classic movie to help...
The Good...
The girlfriend and I attended the Pennsylvania Ren Faire a few weekends ago. It was basically just me and her, but a friend of mine and all of her friends went up, and we were technically planning to go with them, it just ended up we all split up. Which is fine, cause there's some jealousy issues there I didn't know how it would go. But anyway, I've always enjoyed the Ren Faire. It's such a good time. Sure there are some uber dorks that get way too into it, but that's just fine. I myself enjoy the shows, the actors, and basically just the fun. Even though the shows are pretty much the same evey time, you could go back any weekend and have a different experience. Plus, the ladies in corsets are a plus
So the weekend we went ended up being one of two of the Halloween type weekends. They have costume contests and a special storyline of some of the characters being vampires or something. They have it the last two weekends before Halloween, Halloween weekend itself this year began "Nevermore," which is their showing of various Poe stories in play form. So I ended up going in my costume, which was Death on vacation. I was dressed in the long robe, had the scythe, white and black face paint. Then I had on a loud ass hawian shirt ($3 good will, wooo), flip flops (which had my feet covered by skeleton looking feet), my camera, and a big ass island hat. It was quite fun, lots of people would get it as I was walking by and laugh or ask how my vacation is. I ended up entering the costume, and well, I got 2nd place!!! How cool is that? So I won tickets to Nevermore and a gift certificate for a tavern by the faire. The first place guy was dressed as one of the squires from the Holy Grail. And I mean this guy was dead on, had the coconuts, a chair on his back, awesome costume. He came with friends dressed as the witch, and Tim the enchanter. I just beat out Tim, hehe.
Another pretty cool thing happened this past Saturday. I actually DJ'ed at a club!!! Ok, so it was a small club, and it was a goth/industrial night, but it was pretty cool nonetheless. Basically a friend is promoting a new night at a club, and they needed a DJ for the non dance type room/bar. So since I know the music pretty well, they decided to ask me. I just pretty much took it as a cool ass opportunity and had to do it. Now I was on the radio in college, but never did anything for a live event. But I did aok, and I am told that the owner liked both of us so much better than the last people, and that we can stay even thought the turn out was less than expected. Keep in mind though, this was the night before halloween, with another goth/industrial event going on that night and the next night, so not everybody wanted to go out. I decided to play a whole bunch of Halloween music for about an hour starting at midnight, and that went over pretty well too. Apparantly there were more people listening to me than the dance floor at one point. So overall, good stuff, hopefully I can do it again sometime.
The Bad
Well, the election has gotten me pretty worked up. A friend of mine is an extreme republican, and often times I feel like he just agrees with Bush because he's a republican, and not really thinking about it. It really frustrates me, though it's in my nature not to say anything and it just builds up. I also don't understand how so many people can be for this administration. ::sigh:: This is actually the first election I am voting in, simply because I feel that what they do is so wrong for America. And doing my research into it, I still really don't get the electoral college. I mean I understand that it was in place for checks and balances back when it was first enacted, but why are we still using it for president? Every other election in the country is based on popular vote, it just doesn't make sense to me, and honestly seems very undemocratic. It makes it seem like since the majority of a state is a certain party, if you're the opposite, yours doesn't mean a thing. That's just my opinion I guess.
The Ugly
Recently my job has been giving me horrible stress. I work the same job, but between two different radio stations. This makes me able to be full time w/benefits. Anyway, when I am at the one station, I feel so awful. I literally dread going there. The atmosphere is simply suffocating. Most of the people there are pretty much full of themselves, and I just don't want to be there. Now I find out that auditors are coming in and will be looking through much of our business records, a lot of which I am involved in. This scares me a lot. I mean I know I am fine at the one station, everything is always pretty clean there. But when I'm at the other station, what seems like a small breeze at one turns into a class 4 hurricane at the other. They always pile the work on me, always finding some other thing they don't feel like doing to give to me, it's to the point where I can't think straight. I'm just so tired of it, and the other night I simply broke down and cried while on the phone with my girlfriend. Now I definitely don't want to do this my whole life, but I was going to do this another year or so, for the money and the benefits. I have car payments, insurance payments, and hopefully someday rent payments to think of. It's just all so stressful.
I just want to do something I'm good at and happy with.
The ok
Well that's pretty much the rest of my wonderful life. The g/f and I are aok. Though in the past few weeks I've been getting silently annoyed with her with a number of things. Won't go into them as I've blabbered on enough, and need some sleep. But, for some reason I just really wanted to write about all this tongiht. So for whoever reads this, thanks, it's greatly appreciated.
