Well, I've been back on dry land for about 8 hours, yet I can still feel myself swaying with the boat!! surreal

Had a lovely long weekend away. Set off at lunchtime on Friday, joining the guys near the M11 before we all headed for just the otherside of Norwich. We stopped off at a cafe on the way that was 'world famous' according to the billboard but I'm not sure how. We ate but didn't stay to let it settle as there was a huge hornet, plus a bee flying around our heads.

Picking up our boat we headed off straight away in search of a pub but all the moorings were already taken so we ended up mooring up near a ruined abbey/church. We spent the evening checking out the ruins, then settling down for food, music, drink and smokes.

I took to boating like a duck to water, it was quite fun, and mooring up wasn't as tricky as I thought. Although saying that when we were at one of the waterside pubs, we saw quite a few boats hitting the bank or other boats as they came in! biggrin

Mark ducked for cover when I put on my snazzy hat that I bought in London on Wednesday. Passing boats loved it!

Saturday was a glorious day. So, so sunny. We took the boat all the way to Great Yarmouth until some river authority guys came running out shouting 'you won't fit' as we approached a low bridge, so we turned around as the place was a bit of a dump and headed back. We stopped off at a little village and had cream teas, I also managed to send postcards out. smile

Me, topping the boat up with water and myself with sunscreen

I suggested to the guys about watching the England match that day however, if there were three guys on this planet who had the least interest in football, I was with them.
Boating on Saturday was a bit of a nightmare, all the yachts were out in mass tacking side to side and annoyingly they have 'right of way' so it was quite stressful trying to avoid them all! shocked

Again all the moorings were taken up that day so we just set out the anchor in a bay area and copied the previous night!

Sunday we came up with a plan, we set out early and moored up outside a pub at around 10am! The plan worked and we spent the day in a couple of pubs, cream teas again plus relaxing on the boat. Most of us were nursing sunburn, I'd been pretty good except for a couple of areas on my legs where I'd forgotten to use cream. frown
Again that night we cooked a nice meal, then after the pub threw us out we chilled out on cushions on the top deck drinking horrid drinks and smoking far too much, which led to side aching laughter about Martin having blocked the toilet, it was pretty grim but so funny! tongue

This morning we motored back for 9am before hitting the road. We stopped in Norwich for a look around but it was a dump. We then meade the mistake of stopping at a Little Chef. I couldn't remember why I hadn't been to one for over 10 years until I entered. They use the slogan 'Still Britain's Favourite'. God knows how they can justify that statement.
We entered the dimly lit restaurant which seemed to have more lighting on outside than inside. We were served by a girl who should never have been allowed to drop out of school, she stood slumped by our table, hands by her sides and looking like she'd lost a pound and found a penny. She went and got our drinks before finally taking our food order. Mark asked for a ham and cheese panini to which she replied 'we ain't got no paninis'. I ordered a fry-up and was asked what I wanted instead of a sausage which they were out of. whatever
Anyway, when it finally arrived, Mark's sandwich came without the side salad. And despite them advertising 'Back by popular demand! One FREE REFILL with your mug of Little Chef tea or coffee!', Mark never got a refill. Oh and my fry up should have had mushrooms, which I asked if they had any to which she replied 'no' at which point I just laughed. Here's hoping I don't return for another 10 years.
