Urgh. I feel like a badgers arse today.
Yesterday afternoon I went with work to London to the Costa Coffee headquarters to learn about their business. It was really interesting and suprising to see that they roast all of their beans themselves to supply their business. There is quite a science to it all. They bag the beans straight after roasting to lock in the flavour and if you look at the bags they have a small valve on them to release the gases released afterwards. Plus the 'S' in Costa is based on the line running through a coffee bean. We were also taught how to make an espresso, cappuccino and caff latte! I'd be a good Barista
Ooh and I won some chocolates for coming second in the written test!
That evening we booked into the Premier Travel Inn at the London County Hall next to the London Eye. After a beer we then went to the London Trocadero with spending money provided and played on the dance matt, pinball, basketball and racing games etc We had to get going at 730pm so as we left with spending money still in our pockets, Tim and I thought it would be a fantastic idea to buy some Union-Jack top hats to wear! Better still, when the rest of the group finished laughing when we showed up, most of them bought hats too!
Moving on we had another beer at a pub in Covent Garden before getting on the merry-go-round like a bunch of excited children! We then walked to the restaurant and I had stuffed mushrooms to start followed by steak, roast potatos and grilled peppers which was yummy. Pudding was vanilla icecream and chocolate sauce!
After that we went back to the hotel and continued drinking in the bar. That's when it all really started to go wrong
I seem to have this great ability to spill drink on myself. I must have dropped half a pint on my lap which then led to me standing in the gents with my jeans off and holding them under the hand dryer!? I then spilt a dribble of drink on me three more times before dropping half a glass of wine on myself and K too.
In front of everyone I managed to do my terrible impression of one of our team who couldn't be there at which point the victims best friend in the team said 'I really should go to bed but I'm afraid people will talk about me too if I go'. Hopefully it won't come back to haunt me.
Tim and I went to an all-night off licence to buy more alcohol after the bar closed at 1am. I managed to have my photo taken whislt astride of someones mo-ped. I then tried jumping on Tim's back but bounced off and fell on the floor hurting my elbow and left bum cheek. On the way back, both in our hats we were singing 'England' to the point where the few stragglers out in the street must have thought they'd missed a game that night.
Back in the hotel room I managed to do a superman impression, flying onto my bed, bouncing and headbutting the bedside table and cutting my forehead.
Woke up today feeling like a badgers arse. Managed to get down and checked out.
Now what could be the worst food to eat in the morning with a bad hangover and feeling really ill?
Well we went to Caviar House to learn about their business/trade. I got to try three different caviars plus salmon. I tried them all to be polite and to be able to say I've tried caviar however I felt so rough the smell of seafood wasn't ideal! Still, again it was really interesting!
Took the train back to work and felt worse still from motion sickness. I ended up laying in the back of my car for an hour, I think my blood sugar was low from not eating that day.
Home now. Laying in bed.
Off tomorrow for a long weekend boating with the friends I went to Malta with earlier in the year!
