I'm back! Woo!
Work tomorrow... *sigh*
So Friday morning Paul picked me up with his brother Mark and their friend Martin. We flew out of T4 Heathrow, geared up for sun, sea and of course... lager!
Joseph the crazy cab driver drove us from the airport, cutting up cars and shouting at crazy galloping horses!
Now just to clear things up, February isn't the best time of year to visit Malta. The sea was choppy, they didn't have beaches, the sun was out there somewhere but the clouds weren't letting up! And due to all this, it's pretty much OAP season!
So being the only young people in the hotel, the 'discotheque' (haha) was actually taken over by grannies ballroom dancing. The restaurant was always fully booked!
So Friday night we decided to walk to St Julians which was where it was happening! However it was a lot further than we thought! We stopped off for nibbles and a beer in a little quaint restaurant plus a few cocktails. Then we walked on and we ended up in a bar named 'Raw Hide' because we didn't seem to be getting anywhere! We were the only ones in there at first! We spent the evening picking songs on the jukebox (which never played anything other than our choices!) and Martin and Mark even tried chatting up three local women but after we'd had 8 tequilas and 8 smirnoff ices each... we weren't in much of a state to lay on the charm!
Saturday we didn't get up till 3pm, all nursing hangovers although I'd downed lots of water during the night so felt ok! We went swimming in the hotel pool which was funny, I wasn't far off having forgotten how to swim! I really wasn't very graceful at first but soon got back into the swim of things! Haha I suck I know!
That night we went out again heading for St Julians! We just kept on walking! After about half an hour (yes a cab would of made sense) we finally found some happening bars! Despite Mark and Paul wanting to pop into one for the evening, Martin and I were keen to keep going! 'It's all kicking off just round the next corner!'
We eventually came to a big square where hundreds of teenagers seemed to hang out with packs of beers!
We kept on walking! I wanted to pop into a Kareoke bar but Martin wanted to keep on going! 'It's all kicking off just round the next corner!' And it was! We finally found where it was all happening! Lots and lots of bars! The first one we went into was a rock bar. It was really cool and with great music! Martin and I had a beer, the other two really weren't interested and by the end of our bottles, they hadn't got passed the necks! They eventually took a cab back and Martin and I stayed on with another round. Very bizarre though, there were SO many underaged people in their, none with drinks. Then 5 really REALLY hot women came in, but again they didn't buy drinks and they spent all their time taking group photos or single ones of themselves posing against the walls etc?!
Anyway we went on to a few more bars and had a few more drinks and watched the girls walk by! The last bar we went to was fab! It was a r'n'b / reggae bar which isn't really my thing but a beat is a beat! The funny thing was we were the only white boys in there! Haha and neither of us can dance but we had a really good time drinking and dancing to Bob Marley... even Sean Paul! Haha someone shoot me!
After a half hour walk we finally got back around 3:30am and crawled into our beds! We were up again at nine for breakfast! We then went into town and went on a boat trip around the harbours! A woman moved to sit nearer to us and Paul got chatting to her. We left him to it but eventually bumped back into him once off the boat. We stood there like nobs for a bit but after he failed to introduce us to her we left them to it and went off. In the evening we were hoping to all go out for a traditional meal and drinks as it was the last night of the weekend however Paul had other plans with his new Russian friend!
We were all really upset by it but he was adamant so off we went without him for what turned out to be an amazing meal! Martin and I both had Rabbit which I had never had before! It was just like chicken although some parts were a bit tougher like beef!
Afterwards we went for a few drinks whilst Paul said 'I Moscow' and went 'Russian' off and got laid.
Monday we took a bus into town. The buses are unreal, I think they have better ones in Delhi! After a bumpy ride we walked around Valetta, I bought a tacky souvenir bus! Haha we then headed back!
After lunch Joseph took us back to the airport and we flew back! The map on the plane's monitors was a bit weird though, Stansted was inbetween London and Dover! Scary! hehe
Valentines Day today! I didn't get anything except a cold sore! Haha oh well!
