Teaching you something that's very important to me :)

So besides doing hair, I am also very interested in Health/Nutrition etc. I figured I could teach you something ( idea from @missy to teach ya something in a blog ) about this way of eating and something very specifically important ( and challenging ) that I follow on this new healthy journey!! You may know all about GMO's or ( Genetically Modified Organisms) , but if you haven't ever heard of them then I will be excited to have taught you what they are and why I avoid them at all costs!! This could be a very long drawn out blog, but I will try and give the summary and you can find soooo much more information out there about this on the internet !!

Ok. So GMO's are pretty much in 90% of processed foods out there nowadays. They are foods biologically manufactured in laboratories, injected with new DNA, viruses, herbicides, insecticides and/or other chemicals – to be resistant to synthetic chemicals and are completely different than hybridizing techniques allowed by nature.

GMOs receive patents by the U.S. Patent Office because they have been deemed to be unique and different. GMO’s have not been tested for long-term impacts on human health, they increase costs for family farmers, and they require more chemicals to grow that can get into our water and air.

In the last 15 years, since GMOs were introduced into our food supply – an increase of more than 500 pounds of herbicide and 19 million pounds of the pesticide " Roundup" have been sprayed on our crops and into our environment – The same type of chemicals that the President Cancer’s Panel has determined is the reason why 41% of us will experience cancer in our lifetime!!

Over 60 countries around the world require GMOs to be labeled or regulated. The U.S.A. does not. Despite polls consistently showing that more than 90% of the population want GMOs to be labeled, our leaders in Washington refuse to acknowledge this truth and will not implement mandatory GMO-labeling at the federal level.

I really wish there was labeling in the USA, but with the knowledge that this is going on and more people learning and caring, maybe we will get there. It is VERY hard to eliminate GMOs from your diet because they are lurking everywhere it seems. The small bits of research that have been done with the ways our bodies react to GMOs show lots of inflammation, leaky gut syndrome and so many other negative side effects. There is a way with a lot of dedication to do this and I have been following this for at least the last 6 months with LOTS of other eating and lifestyle changes, I believe this is why I am much healthier and losing a ton of weight. ( I also eat gluten free, which is a whole other story) Ok, so this is just in a nutshell and if this interests you then please go out and do more research for yourself. If you read this whole blog, I really appreciate you because I very much believe in this!! I am going to be posting a few pictures here of me now after losing 45 pounds in the last couple years so far ( and still going) and MAN it feels great! All my love, Starphire

First off gotta say you look fantastic!  Thanks for the insight into GMO's.  Sadly in the U.S. it all comes down to money, and when the big companies don't want regulation enacted they just make the right "contributions" to the politicians.  But change does happen, even if it's so very slowly.  Hopefully our children will have things better off.  Oh and again just gotta say you look fabu!

@lord_renob thanks so much! glad you liked the blog! it's true, non-gmo and healthier foods are totally more expensive still and it's sad, but maybe it will get better eventually!! thanks again!
