i know quite a bit about mastiffs. i used to work in a dog kennel that were housing a few from a puppy mill raid until we could get them trained and adopted. most were english, we had a napolean mastiff named santana, as well. they stole my heart. amazing puppies.

i didn't get a chance to paint the town red or anything this past tuesday. i actually worked on my birthday. 3-11 baby.
i'm celebrating the big 22 this saturday. i'm looking forward to 3 am breakfast wearing yesterdays clothes. dancing till my feet falls off sort of fun.

Anybody know the rule of thumb on bacon frying? Is it until the white fatty stuff becomes transparent?
I tried to cook some this morning and I don't know if I cooked it enough. It's really great bacon though, I got it from the butcher. It's really thick and more than a foot long.

Well, by "not bad" what I meant was "oh, so you were on the good side as opposed to getting busted for a long string of petty offenses," but sure, "tough enough" works too. 
Frozen eyes seem like an unusual occupational hazard for those lines of work. A remarkably unpleasant one, too. I never realized that was actually possible. Frostbitten eyelids, maybe, but... yeah, my imagination stops there.

I'm studying corporate law because it's one of the subjects that gets covered on every bar exam in every state of this nation, and it would be a painful and embarrassing thing to have suffered here for three years only to fail the bar and not be able to practice after all.
And, also, it's rapidly showing me that yes, I was right not to go for big-firm practice after all. I can safely say that I do not understand the mindset of people who enjoy this field at all.

Yeah, I think I phrased that question badly. The idea was: if you could go ten years back in time and give the-you-that-existed-then any single object, what would it be?
As for Ingres vs. Delacroix... toughie, but I'd have to go with Ingres, who generally paints in a more visually realistic style (whereas Delacroix seems a little more off-and-on, being sometimes very realistic and other times very impressionistic).
However, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very well-versed in Orientalist painters, and did my set more as a commentary on the 'exoticizing' of Middle Eastern and East Asian cultures by those gosh-darn whiteys. I know the literature and cultural theory much better than I do the painters. Plus I had the costume and props already.
