Parents, they get more bizarre with age.

I went over to Mom and Dad's last night to visit and weasel the last of the party mix. Mom was watching some network show about people who thought they could dance, so I hung out with Dad. Dad turns to me and says something to the effect of "Check the East pasture I want to cut that dead oak."

I shall translate: Examine the ground and vegetation in said pasture, also are there cows there? I want to bring the big truck and cut wood there all day. Now, this time of year the ground is saturated with snowmelt and an occasional rain during a warm spell. You have to drive in while the ground is frozen to sufficient depth to support the truck, or it gets stuck and you have to get a tractor to pull out the truck. But, if the ground begins to thaw a little and just the grass left over from the summer thaws on top of the frozen ground, it's like driving on lettuce spread over a hockey rink. All this is balaced with the fact noone wants to freeze their ass off cutting wood.

And yes, oddly enough Dad and I do know every fallen tree on the property. Can you believe I'm stil single?

Being dutiful and filial I got up at first light today(on my day off) and went and checked the field, and called in my report to Mom and Dad's. Dad had already left to do whatever he does every morning so all I did was ruin my Mother's morning as well.

I'm going back to bed now, and he better not call me until at least noon.
