stag's 16 step program to buying yourself a new computer
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1. buy a 1GB memory DIMM that your current mainboard recognizes as 512MB
2. pick yourself up a new mobo from newegg.com (they are the shiznite)
3. completely take apart your old PC, hookup the new mobo, plug it in, and hit the power button
4. watch that CPU fan spin, and nothing else
5. hook up your old configuration
6. watch that CPU fan spin, and nothing else
7. call your dad, ask him to get on the internet and look up CPU multiplier jumper settings for you, then realize halfway through the conversation that that isn't the problem
8. think maybe it's a short and contort your rig in all sorts of crazy positions
9. determine that you need a new CPU (because you're an idiot)
10. pick yourself up a new CPU from newegg. com (they are the shiznite)...see if you can score yourself a sweet newegg.com beach towel while you're at it

11. watch that CPU fan spin, and nothing else
12. head to best buy, think about buying some new RAM, then think better of it
13. drive 300+ miles to see your girlfriend, but while you're there test your RAM on your best friend's computer and determine it's fine...make sure to leave him a 512MB DIMM as a "thank you"
14. spend your lunch hour driving to a circuit city to purchase an ATX power supply tester that you will never use, because...
15. you realize your new mobo requires a new 12V power connector in addition to the original ATX connector, so you shell out the big bucks to best buy for an alright psu that you could get cheaper online, but you're too impatient to wait for shipping
16. don't even figure out why the old mobo isn't working now, because you're too frustrated to give a fuck anymore

so, just follow these 16 simple steps, and you too can have a sweet new rig!
to paraphrase bill simmons: the lesson as always? i am a fucking idiot biggrin

I will try not to burden you.
I can hold these inside. I will hold my breath
Until all these shivers subside,
Just look in my eyes.

all this happy idiot (happiness is idiot nirvana, by the way) can do is try, if not very well

now do you believe me?
(props to elfhelm on the hat biggrin)

i absolutely adore everything that makes you you
but i guess you know all about that now
