Finally some good news on the iPhone front.
Last night I was dicking around with toc2rta.com's TIFF exploit and iNdependence and tried to downgrade to 1.0.2 to no avail. Then this morning I tried playing music on the bus and it said I had no songs. Yes, very sad.
Then at work I tried downgrading with iNdependence again and I guess the Sun and the tides were just right because it worked. Perfectly jailbroke 1.0.2, then prepared for 1.1.1, and then installed 1.1.1 without losing the jailbroken status. Very nice. It's good when things work like they're supposed to. But for whatever reason I don't see Apollo listed in Installer.app. Very strange. I like Apollo better than MobileChat, which seemed to crash on me all the time--maybe it's been updated since then.
One thing I don't like is SummerBoard's horizontal-scrolling home screen. I liked the vertical scroll so much, I would just scroll up and down for no reason. I don't know who thought that horizontal scrolling was better. But s/he needs to be shot. Unless it's a technical thing, then fine, I'll settle.
While rendering proxies and RAM previews at work, I bid and won on a new pair of iPhone earbuds on eBay (my old ones were half eaten by the kitten and then thrown away by Ember). he starting bid was a penny, but turns out the maximum bid was $11, so eBay made me pay $11.50. I would have been happier paying $11.01, but oh well. For whatever reason there was no reserve and free shipping. Why the seller would risk selling something at a loss, I will never know. But regardless, I'm paying a third of the retail price. I hope that gets sent out soon, I paid it within 180 seconds after winning. I miss skipping songs from the mic button (though the double-tap Home button to bring up iPod controls is also very handy). And the handsfree stuff is nice, you know, when I'm actually using the ten thousand rollovers minutes I've accumulated over the years.
Hmmm, what else... oh, I pre-ordered Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on Amazon yesterday because they're selling it for the cheapest I've seen online. I hope Amazon ships it out early so it gets delivered on the release day, just like how Apple does it. I don't want to install it mid-work week and not have plenty of time to play with it. I don't want to be so lame that I come into work late because I was up all night installing and playing with a new OS. That's just too geeky, even though I totally will if I have to.
And one last thing... made some good progress on the Ginker music download store tonight. I finally figured out how to include files through the store's own scripting language, so now I can include my normal server-side includes (like this and this). Because copying and pasting the site's layout into every single template file is a crime against humanity. And myself.
Tonight's dinner was two bowls of Cocoa Puffs. Even though I haven't been to the gym in what seems like months, I'm only a couple pounds heavier (but still less than before we started working out again). Exercising seems so futile because the moment we stop going to the gym every other day (or the one time we go to the Olive Garden), I gain it all back. Instead I can not go to the gym and my weight will fluctuate around 189-193 and I'll have more free time to dick around with my toys. Which is way more fun, I might add.
I think Ben and another person (or persons?) might be stopping by Saturday. My Wii will be overheating by the time we're done with it. Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. can't come out soon enough though.
I think it's bed time. Thank god this week is going by so fast.

The Wii Zapper with the Crossbow Training looks neato.
