I remember hearing that the average American, or maybe New Jersian, commute was about forty-five minutes. Allow me to show you why that average is so high.
Going to work:
This involves leaving the house, waiting for the Ultra Camry to warm up (but not overheat like Saturday night), get to the train station, park, realize the train I wanted left while I was finding a parking spot, wait for the next train, ride the train, switch trains, ride my second train, walk four blocks to work, and get onto the elevator.
Time: Two and a half hours.
Going home:
This involves: Filling out my fake time sheet, putting my jacket, going down the stairs, walking four blocks while it hailed and I lacked an umbrella and hat, buy a ten trip train ticket pack, wait for the train, ride the train, get off the train, buy train tickets to last me the week, wait around for the train to arrive, get on the train, wait on the train until we fucking moved, ride the train, get off the train and walk to the parking garage, warm up the Ultra Camry, get lost because of the crazy Route 18 detour is retarded, slide around on some ice, drive some more, and then park at Mark's parking lot.
Time: Three hours.
Total time: Five and a half hours.
Minus the time it would normally take me to walk to work: five to ten minutes (depending if I stop at Dunkin Donuts or not)
Total wasted time: Five hours, twenty or twenty-five minutes.
FUCKING HELL. That's lots of time I could have spent not thinking about how pissed I still am. So I am the reason why the national/state/whatever average commuting time is so fucking high.
Glen, the show's producer/my boss, asked if I was going to stay with them or look for a new job. I probably should have lied about how long the commute was. As much as I hate this algebra show, we're so fucking close to being done and I have new opportunities waiting for me this Friday with CCFV working on Sprout (which, I have yet to Google it, could be children's programming for ON DEMAND. Yes, in all caps. Or maybe it's for the Comcast Network. Okay, I finally Googled it. PBS. Well that's not nearly as cool, but it is very recognizable on a résumé.
I'm completely exhausted. I need a shower. Maybe in the morning after Mark and Enid go to work. Man, now it's weird having to call another girl by her SG name.
