It hurt a lot more because I didn't have insurance at the time. It happened snowboarding. I went a little too big on a tabletop jump. Landed about ten feet past the transition, on my back. OUCH!! Your's does sound more painful though. I couldn't afford any surgery or therapy, so I just laid on my back for three months and let it heal as best it could.
A friend of mine recently told me he got his dive certification some where in Central America and said it was much cheaper than he could have gotten it here in the states. If you're ever headed done that way, it might be something to look into.

I did not get the sea otter tracking job that I interviewed for. I am a failure. Oh well, at least I don't have to live in a dorm style dump for the next six months. This also frees up my immediate future to go find new things to attempt and fail.

I have no beef with you on the gun issue. I just think that these conversations end up being extreme. Apparently, there is no middle ground. I think motorcycles are a much better hobbie. Comnustion and cylinders are just as much prescion as a bullet through a barrel. Even more so as it happens so quickly.
