So yeah, tomorrow night, this band-type-thinger that I've been messing around with is going to have a live performance. It's going to be the single most terrible thing to ever be unleashed on a live audience, and I can't wait to relish in the glory. Basically, it's going to be just me and my friend, myself on guitar, and my good friend on a computer running a synthesizer/drum machine.
Presently, we have 2 songs. The first one is some very abrasive acid-house type stuff. My friend wrote it, and there is no guitar piece to accompany it, currently. So I'm just going to kind of sit there for a bit while he twiddles knobs.
Then, we have a cover of "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. Words cannot describe how terrible it sounds. The guitar is set to do balls-to-the-wall distortion, and we sampled in a trumpet to emulate the trumpeting in the original piece. The sampled trumpet kind of reminds one of UB-40, which should send shivers up your spine. Bass is provided via a sampled bass synth run through a machine. Oh yeah, and percussion is done on a 909 kick, with a few other drums added, too.
Prepare to spin in your grave, Cash. =) If I can somehow record this, I'll post a mp3 on the web, but only under the condition that anyone that listens to it must destroy their stereo equipment after having "dirtied" it with the song.

I wish there was a easy way out of this redundant routine I'm in - but there really isn't. I am kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. I cannot afford to simply quit, and every day I hope I will get fired. But unfortunately that won't happen yet, even though I am technically on the verge of it because of our point system (allowed 12 + 1 point per year, I have 12. I'm on my "honor" point. You get a point each week you don't make your scheduled hours).
There are good things about my job and then there are bad things and lately the bad outweigh the good. And that is what has me so damn down about it. There is a lot of flaws in the system that is my work environment and I have no power to change those flaws. But I just keep going with it because I need the money to pay my bills and I'm too lazy to find a new job because I'm relatively comfortable in my job. My job is secure and I cannot afford to risk losing it.
Plus I am a total softie and I know they need me because I am a good keyer and a hard worker. It just sucks to feel that you're not as appreciated as you should be and you aren't properly rewarded for a job well done. It's a thankless job but someone has to do it, you know?
I guess I'll just keep on doing this for now. Plus it's hard for me to find a different / good job because of my piercings and my lack of desire to wear stuffy business clothing 40+ hours a week.
Well, that is all I have to say for now. But thank you for sharing your feelings with me. It is good to know that I am not the only one stuck in a routine lifestyle.
Always -

PS - Macs suck.
So how did the band thingamajig go?
