Wow, first entry in my Journal....Today I peeped a lecture with Fab 5 Freddy...very dope !! This is one smooth hombre, he spoke on the origins of Hip Hop and its initial inspiration to become a counterculture movement....one thing that 5 brought to the table was his interesting angles into the movement because he was tight with such PopArt icons as Basquiat and Andy Warhol...he got his beginning in graffiti writing and has since dabbled in all sorts of ventures, mostly video direction. His most significant criticism was of the current state of commercial hip hop and how the bling has sidetracked the essence of hiphop...I personally feel that hip hop hasn't lost its way, its just going through growing pains much like Rock and Roll did in the 80's....
