I had a great weekend. Went shopping with a friend in the city on Saturday. I had specific items I was shopping for as I attended a Dicken Xmas party Saturday night. So I was in search of Dickens wear. I rented a top hat, found a red velvet coat, and made a ascot style tie. I think it turned out well. Check it out in my pics. I had a blast at the party, but the one person I was hoping would be there wasn't. Oh well... So I came home got to sleep at 4am and then woke at 5:30am to go to Monterey to...
SKYDIVE! What an amazing experience!! It was a long day and I was exhausted at the end of it, but what a great day! Truly one of the best experiences in my life. A friend from work turned 30 and wanted to go skydiving. She asked all her friends if they would go with her, but only 5 of us went: my friend, her husband, their 2 friends, and me. It was a tandem jump so I was strapped to a pro. It really was great. Not once did I get scared, nervous, or anything. Everyone keeps asking what was it like. I know it defies conventional expectations, but once in free fall it feels more like you are floating rather than falling. You cant feel the force of gravity even though you know it is in effect. And it is quite serene. The only thing that allows you to know you are falling is the air rushing past you and the noise of it all. Apparently you fall around 120mph. Wow! Then when the pro throws the chute you experience a split second where the pull up of the chute equals the pull down of gravity and you feel weightless. It is really quick, but it almost feels like everything strapped to you, around, everything just falls away. Once the chute is in full open mode then you feel the force of gravity. You can feel the chute working against it and gravity pulling you back to earth. We jumped from 18,000 feet, which is supposedly the highest jumps in the world according to their website. Obviously that is commercial jumps, but still. Plus, it was a gorgeous day; so clear and beautiful. It made the experience perfect! This is something I could do often. Unfortunately, it isn't cheap, but is was so worth it! I hope to get a jump in with my friends or other friends again in the future. Check out the video in my videos!
Today was a good day just because I got to relive the weekend by telling it to my friends/coworkers. Life is good for the moment!
