Hello hello. Had enough of the academic life?
thefuckoffkid:
How long until you're meant to finish up at uni?

I've been frantically busy, including with a postgrad student who doesn't have a clue. Those are not fun.

Marking: 29 essays on a show I didn't much enjoy frown mad surreal

That's where I love my job, I don't have to mark anything, I just do the technical stuff.

that sucks big time! whatever

Living: on the poverty line. My scholarship has finished. frown

Wearing: new boots I bought in Melbourne. White and faux military - storm trooper boots, I call 'em. love

Counting; down the days 'til the 13th. I'm going to be 30. surreal

Writing: 2 pieces for publication and a (really incredibly boring) history chapter of the thesis. Words words words everywhere. And some are pretty good, even! smile

Happy Birthday xoxo. Hope it brings you oodles of money and success and more hot footwear

It depends what you're studying...

Rushing: around like a crazy creature. I'm going to a Performance Studies conference and to the gay and lesbian archives in Melbourne over the next 2 weeks. Lots of organising to do and I'm running way behind! If only this fucking conference paper would write itself I could be out purchasing warm, funky clothes which will no doubt be required in cold, drizzly Melb.

Requesting:...

[Edit]

Mis-typing: a bunch of words lately. Words I use all the time, too. Like 'queer' which, from my fingers, keeps coming out with two Us and only one E and 'lesbian' which can come out as any combination of those letters: 'leisban', 'lesbain', 'lesiban' and so on. Seriously, it's kinda embarrassing. I think I've added all the various fuck-ups to my Autocorrect List...

Hating: "Old Time Rock 'n Roll". Hans (my Drag King buddy) chose the film Risky Business for this week's Song from a Movie category. It's a boring, boring song. I hate it. But the routine is good and should do well.

Loving: my new desk. I've nabbed a spot in a research centre on campus so now I can work away from home (and hence,...

Feeling: old. The drag king act I was working on got us through to the next round of competition. (By "us" I mean the performer, technically. I devised the routine, she actually did the thing!). This is good news as the prize is $1000, which is exciting. The theme for next week: Song from a Movie. Should be easy, yes. But looking around the audience...

I'm with you on "Greased Lightning" thing -- it seems like a great Drag King song precisely because it's sooooooo self-consciously macho and guyish (boyish?).

(Some of the lumps could well be my students too. wink )
arachnequarius:
mysterious, no? yeah, i did not know that my account was up so quickly, and missed out on contacting persons such as yr fine self, so here i be.

mmmmmm, most drag king like goodness in my own experience has been sort of 80s-y as well. although, do certain movie retain cult status? god - i am old too. smile good luck with it!

Taking: it one day at a time. We're staying together but we're aware that if it doesn't work, it'll be time to let it go. I am ready for either outcome.

Thanking: everybody for your supportive comments. It really is nice to hear other people's approaches to this kinda stuff. You people rock. Yes, you.

Moving: on to other news...

much love and good luck for what you are going through. I wish you the best. I do hope it works out for you both, if that is what you want.
Drag King act.....hell yes. Unfortunatly, LA does not have as much of a diverse lesbian community, or at least out there in the open. San Francisco and New York you can catch a good drag king act. I wish we had that here as often as elsewhere. Sounds like you have a fun project to work on.
I too, am looking forward to summer. Do you have any big music festivals or cool happenings coming up End of July or August? I want to plan a trip with my girlfrriend to a foreign land around those times.
fanny:
Hmmmm..... I could tell you where I work

But then why don't I just put up my real name and home address for all those wackos out there to see too

wink

Let's just say it's one of the most internationally renowned acronym's that related to the combination of two of the world's favourite mediums

Cryptic enough?
