Blood red carpet at The Ruins premiere
By SpookyDan
Last week Bloody Disgusting was one of a very few outlets invited to see the red carpet world premiere of THE RUINS. Directed by Carter Smith, The Ruins is one of the better horror films to come along in ages. I hope you all get out this weekend and see it in the theater. Skip Prom...

Weekly Wrap-up

(this should have been a daily blog..but I just got busysorry)

I was interviewed by Paul McCavoy for his horror documentary called Into The Dark. It's a weird thing being on camera and being un-prepped for questions you ultimately answer from the heart, but then afterwards feel like you forgot stuff you should have said. But the interview went over great, Staci Layne...

The Bubble

Tonight I went out with my friend Jeremy Cross who explained a theory he has about people. His theory is that we all live inside a comfort zone that we have built up, or a "Bubble". When this "bubble" is punctured or pressure has been applied to it we lose the comfort and become edgy and somehow off. I admit that I certainly...

Bean gets most of his black "abnormal" clothing at American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, and Lip Service.

For him, it's all in how you put the clothes together. biggrin Urban Outfitters has a surprising amount of men's military-styled shirts in black that lend themselves quite well to goth-genre styles.

Then of course there are always any DIY upgrades like razorblade slashes or safety pins, although I'm more likely to do that to my clothes than Bean is to his.

Hell, even GAP 1969 black jeans look subversive when paired with boots from GoodGoth and a Lip Service buttondown.

Then there's always JetRag. Bean found an amazing tux jacket there for $10. It looks great with jeans and tshirts. biggrin

I've entirely grown out of Hot Topic. Either that or Hot Topic has grown out of me, i'm not sure, because I still wear the clothes I bought at Hot Topic many years ago... but they're not recognizable as "Hot Topic" anymore.

Bean and I joke that our style is somewhere between "grad school goth" and "corporate goth." Normal enough that we don't attract stares, but abnormal enough that we occasionally attract attention. Does that make sense?

Mr Disgusting sucks, so I partied without him

So my boss and good friend Mr. Disgusting went to the HorrorHound Weekend in the Midwest. He didn't invite me. So tonight I cried myself to sleep, sad that I missed out on all the fun. 

Just kidding! I went out to 3 different parties that he would have loved!
HA!
Saw loads of great people...

Friday night baby hold on tight!

First thing this morning was spent getting ready and quickly off to meet with the sound designer on the super secret project that I am involved with, went great, we have some big challenges ahead, but nothing that will stop this from happening! Then home to work on the Dark Reel poster, I have about 6 different designs, but...

Dan, I've been telling you all along YOUR INTEGRITY IS PARAMOUNT. Be fair to yourself before anyone else.

And fuck people who kiss ass, you really want to be associated with losers like that? Whatever. Your REAL friends would never do that... because we have respect for ourselves - AND YOU.

Lies, and one very kick ass meeting!

First I will start out on a positive note. I had another meeting today about what the future holds for me as a contributing member of the horror community. In the past week I have had a bunch of meetings with some very powerful people. And by powerful I mean people that have a huge impact in my...
