What a good New Years!
I decided that we would do a beer tasting as the main event while we watched the Dick Clarke countdown to New Years and I must say it was a smashing success! So much so that we have decided to do it once a month with different types of beer. Last night was Stouts with one Porter thrown in for good measure. If anyone ever offers you a stout from California called "Rasputin", run and don't look back. It is quite possibly the foulest brew I have ever tried to drink. I say tried because it was so bad everyone dumped it out. I've never been able to get through a beer before, so this was a first. Even mattthegoon dumped his out, it was that bad.
Anyhow, we did have a couple of surprises. One was O'Hara irish stout (if you can't get Guinness, it's a fantastic substitute) and the other was Anchor Porter which was light and somewhat fruity. Also a little thing called Peg Leg which wasn't bad for a microbrew stout. All in all, a fun night. Next time we do this, I think I'll go with something lighter so motega isn't subjected to the rediculously strong beers that we like and can maybe fid something she'll enjoy.
Not to say she didn't have fun, but by the looks on her face after every beer, I can tell you I am pretty sure that stouts are not for her.
Hope everyone else had a Happy New Years and made it home in one piece!
