How is it that a person becomes homeless? There are so many people that live in projects and other government housing, and so many of those people don't work at all, I just don't understand how it is that a person chooses to be homeless rather than live in housing through the government and go through some kind of workfare program...
I want to ask the man I drive by every morning what happened in his life that he would end up on the corner with a sign. I am torn between feeling sorry for him and wondering what the heck is wrong with him.

Most of the people have mental problems and dont know whom to tern to or they have run away from home and just dont know what to do.
I've read research that indicates people will buy alcohol and cigs before food; so if you want to help, buy them a meal but don't give them money.
