The maternity ward was actually kind of scary. After the tour I've decided I really want to avoid having the little one there. I talked to a midwife and am going to try to have her at a birthing center instead. It feels like it's a bit late in the game to be changing the plan, but my daughter will only be born once, and that's not where I want it to happen.

In other news, we seem to be playing the rotating parents game. My in-laws were here all weekend, leaving in the morning, and tomorrow afternoon/evening my mother will be getting (back) into town to spend a week. It's nice to see everyone, but I'm starting to run out of energy for company, plus I haven't gotten to see the girlfriend in a couple of weeks as I've been juggling other people and work stuff (doesn't help that she's easily the busiest person I know).

You're going to have her in a birthing pool aren't ya? Damned hippie!

I thinkthe one thing my S-I-L learned is that a birthing plan is ber importante when dealing with doctors. But I don't guess it would be quite so important with your hippie "birthing center".

ooo aaa

Company can be taxing in the best of times, let a lone when you're harboring a fugitive. That's why I'm a hermit.

To be honest, I'm all about the midwifery. Doctors are all sorts of invasive when they don't need to be. Unless there's a problem the lil' tyke is gonna come shootin' out your fun-slide whether they have you jacked up on pain killers or not.

I saw something once that said a lot of the practices in hospitals hinder the natural birthing process. From being on your back to all the drugs the love to give you to slow down or speed up the labor. Plus they are all about the c-section, even if it's unnecessary (and considerably more dangerous to the mother's health).

I don't know why I know so much about this junk. I guess I watch too much sciencey tv.
