I went down to the unemployment office this morning. Got enrolled for unemployment and registered for Trade Adjustment Assistance under NAFTA. We applied when we got laid off because the majority of the work leaving the shop was going overseas.
In effect, what this will do is to pay for two years of reeducation (college) for me AND extend my unemployment benefits for THREE consecutive 26 week periods (for those of you that can't do the math, that's a YEAR AND A HALF!) Your tax dollars are going to pay my way through school and for me not to have gainful employment for almost two years. Thanks.
It's a nice day out today, think I'll go and ride my bike (since I don't have to work...).
